Colorado Water 2012

Pikes Peak Library District and Colorado Springs Utilities, along with 12 other organizations in the Pikes Peak region, are partnering in 2012 to raise awareness about water as a valuable and limited resource. Programming throughout the year will seek to:

  • Increase support for management and protection of Colorado’s water and waterways
  • Showcase exemplary models of cooperation and collaboration among Colorado water users
  • Connect Coloradans to existing and new opportunities to learn about water
  • Motivate Coloradans to become proactive participants in Colorado water’s future

Water Wonders
Can you create a cloud in a bottle? Will a balloon held over a burning flame pop? Come enjoy this family program with fun science experiments about water, the water cycle and saving water. Good for all ages!

Be an Astronaut
Just like astronauts on the International Space Station, your family will budget for and build a water filtration system to turn undrinkable water into potable water. Call (719) 955-3240 to register.

Keepers of the Water Field Trip
You’ll spend your time on the Creek performing ecology experiments and exploring aquatic science. Call (719) 471-0910, x103 to register.

Children’s Story Hour and Hands-On Snow Activity
Children learn about water, weather and learn to make snow in this story-hour program. (For pre-school – 2nd grade.)

Fountain Creek Restoration Celebration from Rocky Mountain Field Institute
