SRP Summer Programs:

Snuggle Up!


Baby Time

Read, rattle and rhyme! This program is for babies under one accompanied by an adult. Space is limited. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Toddler Time

This program gives an introduction to the delights of rhyme, rhythm, and a few special stories as a first step to reading for 1- and 2-year-old children and caregivers. The program lasts approximately 20 minutes

Book Break

This is a short read-aloud session that is particularly suitable for preschoolers. At East Library, Holley and Cheyenne Mountain branches, this will be led by our teen guest readers.

Paws to Read

Let your child practice reading and build fluency by reading to a Paws to Read dog. No registration required.

Language Experiences


Bilingual Storytime
Join us for a bilingual storytime, conducted mostly in English with an opportunity to learn Spanish words and phrases. Children will have the opportunity to participate in the delights of rhyme, rhythm and a few special stories.
Summer Spanish for Kids
Join us in this class for English Speaking kids who want to practice their Spanish. It runs from June 15 through August 10. Suggested for ages 8 and up.

Spanish speaking children can practice their English conversation from June 15 through August 10. Suggested for ages six and up.

Hands-On Fun

Stories and Crafts
Start with a read-aloud of some great books and add an activity or craft. Themes are listed on the program calendar. Morning programs are appropriate for ages 3 to 8 and the afternoon or evening programs for ages 5 to 8. Art in the Afternoon
Take a look at the many sides of art in an afternoon of open-ended art projects. Drop in and create a masterpiece of your own. Each week there will be a new source of inspiration from Frank Lloyd Wright, music, Native American weaving, Alexander Calder, Oppenheim, David Catrow & Stephen Gammell, Medieval rubbings and Picasso. Chess for Kids!
Check with your branch or the East Teen Center for ages and details about this chess program.

Special Events

Call for Open Audition for Missoula Children’s Theatre production of Robinson Crusoe
Like to perform? Here is your chance to be onstage as part of the PPLD Summer Reading Party. This nationally recognized program offers a free residency week for 60 children as cast and assistant directors. This is open to youth ages 7 to 18. If chosen, must be available for rehearsal, July 21-25, 10 a.m. to 2:30 pm and performances on July 25. This program is underwritten by the Kirkpatrick Family Fund. Be Creative at our Party!
Creative Activities and Missoula Children’s Theatre presentation of “Robinson Crusoe” performed by Colorado Springs kids! This program is underwritten by the Kirkpatrick Family Fund.
