General Information
Who is included in this database?
The Pikes Peak Library District's (PPLD) Child Care database provides information about licensed child care services in the Pikes Peak Region. Family child care providers, centers, and preschools are included. Inclusion in the database is voluntary. The information contained in the database is obtained from the State of Colorado, El Paso County Dept. of Human Services and the individual providers. PPLD makes every effort to provide accurate information, however the Library depends on these sources for accurate and current information. Inclusion in the database does not indicate or imply an endorsement by
PPLD, the State of Colorado or the El Paso County Dept. of Human Services.
How do I search for child care?
Type in the name of the elementary school, neighborhood, major street or zip code in the area you want child care. Use the School or Area lists (below) to see which schools or neighborhoods are in the database. Add a special age term if you need care for infants or preschool children.
If you have specific needs, such as part-time care or CCCAP include these. Your results will be greater by using fewer terms. If the selection of providers is limited, enlarge your geographic area or use fewer special features.
Elementary School
The Licensed Child Care Providers database allows you to find child care options by the elementary school nearest providers. In order to find the exact name of given school in our database, choose our School List.
Neighborhoods and Areas
The Licensed Child Care Providers database allows you to find child care options by the general area or neighborhood or the provider. In order to find exact area or neighborhood names choose
Area List.
What is CCCAP?
CCCAP is the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program that is available to qualified low-income families. Contact the Department of Human Services at 444-5918 for information about this program.
What is "religious environment"?
The scope of religious environment varies by provider. Some providers would like parents to know that they follow a religious set of values, others use a Christian-based curriculum, others say grace before meals or read religious stories. It is recommended that you discuss the level of religious activities with the provider.
What is "smoke-free environment"?
While smoking is not allowed in a child care home while the children are present, household members may smoke at other times. A home designated "smoke-free" is one in which smoking never occurs. |
